Legacy vs. Pro - which one to pick?

How to choose between the free Legacy edition and the paid Pro edition.

Material Layers comes in two editions.

  • A free Legacy version available on GitHub.
  • A paid Pro version available on Itch and Gumroad.

Pick the Legacy version if you'd like to try out the tool and material layering in general.

Pick the Pro version if you want a better UI with a node graph system, improved workflow and overall structural improvements that make it production ready.

Legacy is very much capable on its own. Try it out, if you like it, get the Pro.

All guides and references are structured for the Pro version, but they can be applied to the Legacy version too.
